Seeing the satisfaction and pride in students final product or service of food is a rewarding experience for a Technology and Applied Studies teacher (Home Economics, Textiles). I believe that food should not only look good but should be an adventure on a plate. My experience and training in teaching students the various life skills required is that there are a number of stages that a person moves through to become a expert or proficient in preparing food or designing and making textile garments. This led me to study further into skill development in Commercial Cookery (Kitchen operations) and a Master of Education with emphasis on Vocational subjects. My aim is for each student to have a repertoire of healthy recipes that they feel comfortable to prepare once they leave school.
