The annual Prescott College Cross Country is an event which I look forward to each year, and I regularly challenge my Year 8 students to try and outrun me over the 5 km course. I was thoroughly out of breath and yet could not hold back my laughter as Jeff Y (cheeky Year 11 student) gleefully informed me that Tiara, Hudson, Sujit, John and Ben (all Year 8 students) were already well in front of me and would be sure to cross the finish line before their ageing Principal.
I am also out of breath, figuratively, as I note the plethora of extracurricular and learning enriched events that are packed into the last two weeks. We have had English excursions and visits celebrating theatre and poetry. Year 8 and 9 Geography classes have been exploring and discussing the South Australian landscape. Two of our students went to the UniSA Math Experience Day and tell of their experiences. Our Year 12 students have been considering post-secondary school options during a visit from Flinders University. We’ve said goodbye to Marguerite, who was visiting us on exchange from France. Students have been engaged in sporting activities with whole school Cross Country and Senior Boys Basketball Knockouts. One of our students has cultivated a food garden on College grounds. We’ve also welcomed a new club – Ms Bradtke’s Chess Club, which runs during lunch on Monday. When staff haven’t been busy taking students on excursions and sporting events, we have been talking to International student agencies and learning about healthy lifestyles whilst attending the Prescott College CHIP program.
I hope you enjoy and appreciate reading the following pages as much as I have. Prescott College is blessed with a busy extracurricular schedule that involves happy students, dedicated teachers and a God who celebrates diverse, creative and engaging learning. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Colossians 3:23
