Join Our School Support Team – Bus Driver, SSO, Canteen Coordinator & Groundsperson Needed

Prescott College is seeking enthusiastic, capable and caring people to join our school community in four important support roles.

We are currently seeking applications and expressions of interest for:

• Canteen Coordinator

• Groundsperson – Grounds & Maintenance

• School Support Officer (SSO)

• School Bus Driver

These roles provide an opportunity to make a practical difference to the daily life of our students and contribute to a positive, safe and welcoming school environment.

Canteen Coordinator

We are seeking a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Canteen Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operation of our school canteen.

This is a five-day-a-week, on-site position, with hours to suit school requirements and the successful applicant’s experience and availability.

The role includes

• Basic food preparation and service

• Creating fun, appealing and healthy food options for students

• Providing excellent customer service

• Managing the daily float, takings and simple financial reporting

• Budget management

• Purchasing and stock control

• Maintaining high standards of cleaning, food safety and hygiene

• Developing creative menus in line with the SA Right Bite Food and Drink Supply Standards

• Working positively with students, staff and families

We are looking for someone who has

• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills

• A genuine enjoyment of working with children

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• An interest in preparing and sharing healthy, enjoyable food

• Sound money-management skills

• Strong cleaning and hygiene practices

• Flexibility and a willingness to respond to changing school needs

• A positive, practical and solutions-focused approach

This role may suit a parent returning to the workforce, a part-time hospitality worker, or someone with a culinary background.

Food Safety Certification is required for this role and can be obtained prior to commencement.

Training and support will be provided.

Groundsperson – Grounds & Maintenance

We are seeking a practical, reliable and self-motivated Groundsperson to help keep our school grounds safe, tidy and welcoming.

This is a 15-hour-per-week position.

The role includes

• Leaf and weed control

• Basic repairs and maintenance

• General care and presentation of school grounds

• Identifying maintenance issues and reporting them appropriately

• Supporting a safe and well-presented school environment

No lawn mowing is required.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work and can work independently.

Previous grounds, gardening, maintenance or similar experience will be highly regarded.

School Support Officer (SSO)

We are seeking a caring, capable and student-focused School Support Officer to join our team.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to help students participate, learn and thrive at school.

The role includes

• Supporting students individually and in small groups

• Providing classroom and learning support under the direction of teachers

• Supporting students with disability and additional learning needs

• Assisting students to engage positively in classroom and school activities

• Supporting social, emotional and behavioural development

• Implementing strategies and adjustments identified by teachers and support staff

• Working collaboratively with teachers, leadership, families and relevant support professionals

• Maintaining accurate student records and documentation

• Contributing to student progress monitoring and reporting

• Assisting with documentation associated with student support, funding and, where applicable, NDIS-related requirements and reporting

• Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries

• Following all child-safety, wellbeing and school policies

We are looking for someone with

• Experience working with children or young people in a school, education, disability, youth work or similar setting

• A genuine commitment to inclusive education

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Good organisational and record-keeping skills

• Sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality

• Experience supporting students with disability or additional needs

A Certificate III in Education Support, Disability, Individual Support or an equivalent qualification will be highly regarded.

Experience with student support documentation, individual learning plans, disability support documentation or NDIS-related administration and reporting will also be highly regarded.

Child safety requirements

Successful applicants will need to hold, or be willing to obtain, the relevant child-safety clearances and training, including:

• Working With Children Check

• RRHAN-EC training

• First Aid certification, where required

School Bus Driver

We are seeking an experienced and responsible School Bus Driver for before- and after-school runs.

Casual and part-time positions are available.

The Bus Driver plays an important role in our school community, helping ensure students travel safely to and from school each day.

Essential requirements

• Minimum SA MR Class Driver’s Licence

• First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain

• Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain

• RRHAN-EC training, or willingness to obtain

• Right to work in Australia

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role

• Initiative and sound judgement when transporting students

• A calm, responsible and safety-focused approach

Key responsibilities

• Ensuring student safety while boarding, travelling and exiting the bus

• Complying with road laws and demonstrating courtesy to other road users

• Responding appropriately in emergency situations

• Conducting vehicle checks before and after each run

• Refuelling and undertaking basic vehicle care

• Reporting vehicle or safety concerns promptly

• Following all school policies and procedures

• Maintaining a positive and professional relationship with students and the school community
